The Eight Limbs of Yoga

A complete vision of practice

The Eight Limbs, or Aṣṭāṅga, offer one of the most enduring frameworks for understanding Yoga:

Yama — how we relate to the world
Niyama — how we relate to ourselves
Āsana — cultivating steadiness through the body
Prāṇāyāma — working with breath and vital energy
Pratyāhāra — turning attention inward
Dhāraṇā — developing concentration
Dhyāna — entering sustained meditation
Samādhi — profound states of absorption and awareness

These are not simply steps on a checklist. They can be understood as interconnected dimensions of a Yogic life, each informing and deepening the others.
